Heidari: Support for sovereignty and coexistence an unchanging position of Iran

SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) - A celebration of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the 41st anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, in the presence of a number of political, cultural, religious and business figures, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, took place at a special ceremony in the Bristol Hotel in Sarajevo.

Mahmoud Heidari, Ambassador of Iran to BiH, recalled that, 41 years ago, "one of the most glorious twentieth-century revolutions succeeded in removing from the Iranian political scene a monarchist regime, dependent on foreigners, and establish a system based on religious democracy".

He also referred to the friendly relations between Iran and BiH, and said that Iran was proud to be among the first countries to recognize BiH's independence, the Embassy of Iran said.

“Supporting national sovereignty, territorial integrity and the sincere coexistence of all the inhabitants of the beautiful country of BiH is an unchanging position of Iran and we are pleased that good bilateral relations have existed throughout the years, including the period of my term in office, and we have had adequate mobility and dynamic in political, economic and cultural relations,” said Iranian Ambassador Mahmoud Heidari.

The ceremony was attended by the BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović, Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein Effendi Kavazović, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA and SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović, BiH Minister of Defense Sifet Podžić, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA Safet Softić, BiH High Representative Valentin Inzko, Brigadier General Reinhard Trischak, EUFOR Commander and his deputies, Rifat Škrijelj, UNSA Rector and several professors of the University, who all congratulated the Ambassador of Iran on the National Day of his country.

Vice-Presidents of the RS, several state and FBiH MPs, representatives of the Catholic Church, ambassadors and diplomats, representatives of international organizations in BiH, representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, the humanitarian society Merhamet, Mother of Srebrenica Association, Friendship Association of BiH and Iran, intellectuals, artists and business people also attended the ceremony.
