High-level cooperation between BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs and UNDP

SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Civil Affairs, Ankica Gudeljević, spoke today with UNDP Resident Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Steliana Nedera about the cooperation between the Ministry and UNDP, with a particular focus on demining.

UNDP representatives briefed the Minister on the importance of assessment of mine suspected areas and announced the development of a mobile application that would provide all BiH citizens with up-to-date information on possible risk areas. They also announced marking of April 4, International Mine Awareness Day.

Minister Gudeljević emphasized that projects implemented by UNDP have contributed to the quality of life in BiH. She reminded that the decision on the appointment of members of the BIH Demining Commission is in the procedure, and its adoption would create preconditions for continuation of demining process and further donor activities.

Other UNDP activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina were also discussed. UNDP Resident Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Steliana Nedera stressed that the organization implements about 40 projects at the level of municipalities, cantons and entities. A project to promote women in politics is underway, as well as a project on prevention and treatment of HIV / AIDS is still underway in four cantons in the Federation of BiH, in cooperation with UNDP, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs stated.
