HJPC session - Procedure for appointment of new HJPC members on the agenda

SARAJEVO, February 12 (FENA) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) has scheduled a session for February 12 and 13, at which, among other things, should consider launching a selection procedure for new members of the Council.

The appointment of a member of the HJPC to the Selection Commission for the appointment of members of the Central Election Commission of BiH (CEC BiH), as well as the nomination for election of judges of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, are on the agenda, it was confirmed to FENA at the Council.

At the same time, members of that regulatory body should comment on the Rulebook on Submission, Verification and Processing of the Financial Statements of Judges and Prosecutors, on which the Working Group on Improving the Integrity and Accountability of Judicial Officials / Legal Affairs Section was engaged.

The broadcasting of the Council sessions via public internet services is also on the agenda.

The HJPC will discuss the Conclusion of the Working Group for the improvement of the BiH Executive Procedure on the recommendations of the Peer Review Mission (European Commission) regarding the urgent amendments to the FBiH Law on Executive Procedure.

One of the items on the agenda concerns the consideration of the World Bank (WB) recommendations regarding the resolution of commercial disputes in the courts in BiH.

The HJCP should vote on the Concluding Remarks of the Third BiH Periodic Report on the Implementation of the Universal Periodic Review on the State of Human Rights (the so-called UPP Report) and a statement on the UN recommendations on the Third UPP Report.

Also, the agenda includes the vote on the Information on the inquiry of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH regarding the records in war crimes cases in BiH, which was initiated as part of the Project “Improvement of work on war crimes cases in BiH” (IPA 2017).

Also on the agenda of the two-day session are Proposals to amend the Initiative for revision of the Law on the HJPC BiH regarding the eligibility of candidates for judicial positions, as well as presenting the work on the drafting of the Court Manual on the approval of special investigative operations.

In accordance with established practice, the HJPC will decide on the appointment and termination of the mandates of a number of judicial office-holders in BiH.
