In this regard, there are move mobile teams working on the humanitarian and health care of migrants, such as the distribution of food, hygiene products, first aid services and psychosocial care. There are 12 such teams and they are formed in the area of Kalesija, Ključ, Mostar, Ilijaš, Bijeljina, Cazin, Tuzla, Bihać.

At the beginning of February, a new team was formed, consisting of members of the Red Cross in the municipalities of Centar and Novo Sarajevo, who work in the Sarajevo Canton on health care for migrants on the move.

“Teams are made up of experienced members of our organization. There are also a number of doctors, medical technicians and psychologists in our teams,” Public Relations Associate of the FBiH Red Cross Amina Kurtagić said for FENA.

She explains that through their work, mobile teams do health screenings of migrants residing outside reception centers, at bus stations, on the street, in parks, providing them first aid.

“Aside from providing first aid, teams also provide psychosocial care to all users. The Red Cross also provides warm clothing, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, water, hot meals, as well as food and hygiene products,” said Kurtagić.

She said that teams for working on restoring families are formed. Restoring family links (RFL) is one of the long-standing activities of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, more specifically the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies involving activities that aim to prevent separation and disappearance, look for missing persons, restore and maintain contact between family members and clarify the fate of persons reported missing. One such place can be found at the Blažuj reception center, as well as Red Cross dispensary was established. RFL team also provides mobile phone cards as well as mobile phone charging services. These teams exist in the Una-Sana Canton and the Sarajevo Canton, and by the end of February this team is expected to start working in the Tuzla Canton as well.

She emphasized that the FBiH Red Cross partner in migrant health care is the Danish Refugee Council, and the Swiss Embassy to BiH.

“Regarding temporary reception centers, the FBiH Red Cross continuously, together with the International Organization for Migrants (IOM), prepares and distributes hot meals in five centers (Miral, Sedra, Borići, Bira and Salakovac), while organization Pomozi.ba provides meals in the remaining two centers, Ušivak and Blažuj,” said Kurtagić.

It is estimated that 7,500 to 8,000 migrants are currently staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina, FBiH Red Cross told FENA.
