Dunović: European Commission's Opinion puts BiH's political enemies in panic

SARAJEVO, February 23 (FENA) - "Getting out of crisis - meeting the standards of the European Commission" was the topic of a regular session of the Association of Independent Intellectuals "Circle 99", at which the introductory speaker was Vice-President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Member of the Democratic Front Presidency Milan Dunović.

FBiH Vice President emphasized that there has been a lot of talk lately about the state of BiH, the relationship among entities and relationship between the entities and the state of BiH.

“However, there is little talk about ways to overcome such a crisis. Importantly, there is an Opinion from the European Commission outlining some of the things that puts BiH's political enemies, both within BiH and the region, in panic. I think they should panic, because they know very well what the European Commission's Opinion says. Among other things, regarding the electoral legislation, respecting the judgments of the International Court of Human Rights and respecting all civil rights, all citizens in BiH,” Dunović said.

He states that the Opinion of the European Commission states, inter alia, that the judgments of the International Court of Human Rights, which explicitly stated when referring to the Sejdić-Finci judgment and the Zornić judgment, were not respected, that the principle of constitution of the people had to be accepted at the moment of signing the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“However, the principle of constitutionality of peoples cannot be a principle of the European Union if we aspire to the European Union, and leaders of all political parties in BiH claim that we aspire, then these are some things that cannot be represented in the media, especially in the electoral legislation. All this story of legitimate representation goes in two directions. First, it was about the legitimate representation of the people, which is completely contrary to the European standards and the Opinion of the European Commission, and now we are going a step further, there is even talk of legitimate representation of entities in BiH, as if entity is a state, and BiH is an organization where you represent the entity,” said Dunović.

He believes that this is completely unacceptable and that those who speak so are aware of the danger of their words and somehow become hostages to their statements.

“These statements will have to be corrected, and all patriotically pro-Bosnian political parties must start thinking of finding a solution solely based on the Opinion of the European Commission,” Dunović concluded.
