BIHAĆ, February 24 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fahrudin Radončić met with representatives of the Una-Sana Government and the City of Bihać today and visited some of the temporary reception centers in this part of the country.

He also met with Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić and they stated that in the three years of the migrant crisis, "someone was mainly sleeping", and that a serious strategy of coordinated management of this situation is necessary.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently missing 1,200 border guards. Someone has been sleeping in these three years because no law or bylaw was amended. Nothing has been done to strengthen the police and security structures, and it is not surprising that we do not have a serious strategy to manage this situation. More than 30,000 people have passed through this canton and the state, who are not adequately legitimized and this is unacceptable. I completely understand concerns of the citizens of Bihać, who have shown their humanity in every way. Unfortunately, we have no means of radical and rapid change, but no more sleep. We will put things differently, so our priority will be to protect our citizens and their interests,” said Radončić.

Mayor Fazlić pointed out that the moves made by the BiH Minister of Security and his visit to Bihać are encouraging, as well as announcements of his activities in the coming period.

“Conclusions of today's meeting are reasons to be optimistic. We also welcome the Minister's visits to neighboring countries and the effort to formulate a regional strategy for action in this situation. We finally seem to have a partner for working together and acting, so I hope we won't be in an emergency situation very soon. We reiterated that this time we will not allow the city to be overrun due to the new migrant wave, that is, we will try in every way to protect the interests of citizens, our economic goals and the tourist season,” said Mayor Fazlić.

BiH Minister of Security Fahrudin Radončić also announced his recent visits to Serbia and Montenegro, as well as meetings with representatives of the European Union.
