MOSTAR, March 3 (FENA) - Presidency of the Croat National Assembly (HNS) in BiH held a session on Monday and discussed the migrant crisis, and concluded that it cannot be addressed the way it has been in recent years, said HNS President Dragan Čović.

“We need to avoid any additional political and security crisis due to influx of more migrants going to Europe. This is a challenge for us,” said HNS President after the session held in Mostar on Monday.

He urged all colleagues who are in the executive and legislative branches at all levels but also the opposition to act similarly on this issue.

"We have received information from the State Border Service about what is needed. Some regulations need to be adopted in order to prevent people entering BiH and walking around the country for months until their status is resolved, and you cannot resolve this when you do not know who entered or the personal information of those people. In the future, they will have to be stopped at the border and given 24 hours until their requests are answered,” Čović said.

He said that this situation is also a great opportunity for criminal groups to act and make money from human trafficking and obstruct, as he said, our state to function.

The HNS BiH President announced the talks between the HDZ and the SDA in Mostar on Wednesday, saying that the current political situation and the Election Law as a whole would be discussed.

Commenting on whether this was the beginning of the talks, Čović said he would assess on Wednesday whether they were continuing their talks or they will end them.

He also added that there was no doubt that the elections in Mostar will be held.

"With this BiH will have the opportunity to make one European step further, otherwise there is a problem when it comes to BiH's integration path," Čović said.

Talking about the problems of Mostar Aluminij, whose facilities were shut down on July 10, 2019 after the company was disconnected from the grid due to accumulated debts, Čović expressed hope that by the end of the year, a commercially viable project could be made that could function without undue influence from politics.

“There are two serious partners. One that wants to rent Aluminij facilities in the next two years and another one that by the end of the year the whole factory can be started without the influence of the state, without any incentives for electricity on a market basis,” Čović said.

He added that he would be involved in the matter to the extent that he could protect Aluminij's interests in order to function on a market basis as soon as possible.
