SARAJEVO, March 3 (FENA) - BiH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković met yesterday, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović. On this occasion Minister Turković congratulated her on her election to the post and expressed her particular satisfaction that the citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina was elected to that high position in the Council of Europe for the first time.
Minister Turković thanked Mijatović for her engagement with the Council of Europe for Srebrenica so far, that is, organizing an exhibition on genocide in Srebrenica on the margins of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly's summer plenary session in June 2019. Turković stressed that she greatly appreciates the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights to proclaim 11 July as the International Day for Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide. They also discussed other initiatives for promoting projects in Srebrenica and raising public awareness outside BiH.
Commissioner Mijatović announced her arrival in Srebrenica for the commemoration this year.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the migrant crisis in BiH and the development of the situation after the closure of the Vučjak camp near Bihać, on the issue of protection of persons with special needs and activities by the Office of the Commissioner regarding the Pazarić case, and on the official visit of the Commissioner for Human Rights to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021, announced PR Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
