Council of Europe should take action to address the issue of migrants

SARAJEVO, March 6 (FENA) - Member of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and Vice-President of PACE Snježana Novaković-Bursać participated in the meetings of the Bureau, Joint and Standing Committees of the PACE held in Paris.

At the session of the PACE Joint Committee, potential candidates for the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe were presented and steps were taken in the selection process to be undertaken in the coming period.

The agenda of the second part of the regular annual meeting, scheduled for 20-24 April in Strasbourg, was confirmed at the PACE Bureau meeting, and the issues related to developments at the borders between Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria from the perspective of protection of human rights and opportunities for more effective action.

PACE Standing Committee discussed the functioning and future of the Council of Europe and the PACE, and discussed the prevention of violence and discrimination against religious minorities among refugees in Europe.

On behalf of the Political Group of the Unified European Left (UEL) at PACE, Tiny Kox briefed members of the Standing Committee on the situation of a large number of migrants located on the borders of Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria, and called on Council of Europe bodies to undertake certain activities to find a solution to this burning problem.  

The next PACE Standing Committee meeting is scheduled for May 29 in Athens, announced the PR Office of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
