Announced gathering of the Chetnik Movement in Višegrad has to be stopped

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 8 (FENA) - The association "For a Better Višegrad" has called on all those responsible to prevent yet another announced Chetnik gathering and glorifying of Draža Mihailović in Višegrad.

The association states that the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement announced on March 13 in Višegrad a full-day program to commemorate the anniversary of the arrest of Draža Mihailović, a Chetnik commander in World War II.

Thus, on Friday, the Chetnik hordes from Višegrad, but also from neighboring countries of Serbia and Montenegro, are to gather again and continue the shameful tradition of commemorating and glorifying of the Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović, who was responsible for the most vicious crimes against Bosniaks, Croats and other non-Serb citizens during World War II.

"In order to stop the gatherings of the Chetnik Movement from the entity of Republika Srpska, as well as their like-minded people who come from the neighboring countries of Serbia and Montenegro, we appeal to the institutions of the state of BiH to defend the state order and prevent the endangering of the rights of all citizens of one and only Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dear Minister Fahrudin Radončić, please, first of all, as the Minister of Security of BiH, but also as a person, we ask you to take all possible actions to ban the said gathering in a city where more than 3,000 Bosniaks were killed in the most brutal manner," stressed the association from Višegrad.

They note that the International Tribunal in The Hague has imposed life sentences for these crimes, which had been directed by the Chetnik ideology.

"We appeal to the BiH Presidency members Šefik Džaferović, Zeljko Komšić and Milorad Dodik, the RS President Željka Cvijanović, the RS Vice President Ramiz Salkić, Minister in the Federation of BiH Government Edin Ramić, SIPA, Coordination of the BiH Police Bodies, BiH Border Police, High Representative Valentin Inzko, representatives of the European Union to take measures to ban the work and activities of all associations in BiH whose activities lead to incitement and spread of national, ethnic, racial and religious hatred and intolerance. We also urge our Mayor of Višegrad Mladen Đurević not to allow such gatherings and to prove that wants coexistence with the Bosniak people," the statement reads.
