BANJA LUKA, March 9 (FENA) - President of the entity of RS Željka Cvijanović said today she would support the idea of forming a mixed police and military force in the Western Balkans, deployed at the outer borders of the region, to protect it against a coming wave of migrants.
She would be ready to support any such initiative in any of these countries.
"This is a time for the Western Balkans to collectively defend itself against such problems," Cvijanović told reporters in Banja Luka.
She stressed that she was concerned about the situation at the Turkish-Greek border and that it was obvious that the agreement between Turkey and the EU was not working.
“If migrants manage to cross the Greek border, I am sure that a huge number of these people will be found in the countries of our region. Western Balkan countries need to think about how to protect themselves and not just rely on how the EU will protect its external borders,” said Cvijanović.
If the EU has the right to protect its external borders in this way, why, she asks, would the Western Balkans is not allowed to do the same.
