BiH Border Police introduces permanent on-call duty for top officials

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 13 (FENA) – The Director of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BP BiH) Zoran Galić held an emergency meeting with the management of BP BiH with the goal of determining the latest proposed measures at border crossings related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Director Galić emphasized that it is necessary for everyone to adhere to the proposed measures and introduced permanent on-call duty for top officials at the Main Office of the BP BiH in Sarajevo due to the coronavirus, but also the migrant crisis. The top officials will also be on-call in all field offices and units of the BP, said the BP BiH.

BP BiH received a recommendation from the BiH Ministry of Security under which it acts at border crossings to take measures to ban the entry of foreigners coming from areas with intensive coronavirus transmission, especially from China, South Korea, Italy and Iran.

BP says that in the case of symptoms of coronaviruses of foreign nationals who have resided in the mentioned countries, toughened measures will be applied and a Decision can be issued for their refusal to enter BiH.

Furthermore, under the proposed measures of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, when it comes to nationals of France, Germany, Spain, as well as other foreign nationals who have resided in these countries, Border Police officers or sanitary inspectors will hand them a questionnaire on the current state of health, personal information, place and time of intended stay in BiH, and contact telephone.

They also give them instructions on how to proceed and who to contact if they happen to have coronavirus symptoms subsequently and during their intended stay in BiH, the statement said.

Following that, the police officers of the GP or the sanitary inspectors inform the Institute of Public Health that they take measures under their responsibility and, if necessary, send professional staff and epidemiologists, and also, according to their information, all travelers from these countries must undergo self-isolation for the next 14 days.

They also informed all BiH citizens to be conscientious and responsible during border checks and to say that they have resided in areas affected by the coronavirus for their own well-being and the well-being of the community.
