BANJA LUKA, March 17 (FENA) - The University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska (UKC RS) has more than 50 respirators in case of larger number of coronavirus patients, said Director of UKC RS, Vlado Djajić.
He added that they will get four new respirators today and they will be put in operation.
“We hope that we will not need a single respirator, but in the next seven to ten days there will probably be a larger number of patients, some of whom may need a respirator,” Djajić told reporters in Banja Luka.
They prepared about 200 beds for sick patients in facilities of the old hospital.
“We are completing the first operating room for patients with coronavirus and will be ready primarily for pregnant women, who are coronavirus positive, and in order to perform delivery at a location where there are no other patients,” Djajić explained.
Two more operating rooms and an intensive care unit are under preparation in case of surgery for other coronavirus positive patients.
“Our aim is to protect patients and healthcare professionals from coronavirus and prevent the infection from occurring in the UKC RS premises,” he said.
They started using shipping containers that are placed at the entrance of the Banja Luka hospital, where the medical staff will evaluate a patient’s condition and determine their priority for admission in order to prevent coronavirus spread among patients and medical professionals.
He urged citizens to report those persons who violate the self-isolation measure.
