Čampara proposes a Decree of prison sentence for violating self-isolation order

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 22 (FENA) - The FBiH Interior Minister Aljoša Čampara has proposed to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to urgently adopt a Decree - entering into force immediately - on measures to prevent actions against decisions and orders issued by competent authorities for the duration of the Decision pf the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the declaration of the state of natural or other disaster caused by the occurrence of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This Decree prescribes criminal offenses, criminal sanctions, misdemeanors and misdemeanor sanctions within the jurisdiction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the duration of the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the declaration of the state of natural or other disaster caused by the coronavirus (COVID - 19) pandemic.

Minister Čampara proposed to the FBiH Government to adopt a regulation to prevent the citizens from disrespecting the issued ban on out-of-residence movement, in order to prevent the occurrence of the introduction and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The data show that in the Federation of BiH there are a larger number of persons who have been issued a decision on the prohibition of movement and who do not adhere to the measures imposed. Such treatment puts the population at risk of possible coronavirus infection and we cannot allow it. We will have to punish irresponsible individuals with criminal penalties and even imprisonment," said Minister Čampara.

In order to prevent panic among citizens and dissemination of misinformation related to the occurrence of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Minister Čampara also proposed that the Decree bans the spreading or transmission of fake news or unsubstantiated allegations.

"The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will benefit most from the adoption of this measure. This is a way to force irresponsible individuals to obey the orders issued and prevent the events we, unfortunately, have the chance to see have happened in Italy," warned Minister Čampara.
