SARAJEVO, March 27 (FENA) – FBiH Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, Šemsudin Dedić, said that they have begun implementing a set of measures aimed at increasing agricultural production in the FBiH today.

It is extremely important, Dedić added, that during this period Federation of BiH can rely on domestic production as much as possible.

Minister Dedić said at a press conference today that the FBiH Government had adopted changes to the Incentive Program for this year and that an additional 9 million KM had been provided in comparison to the original KM 500,000 to support the co-financing of various programs for starting production, encouraging spring and autumn sowing.

From these funds, Dedić added, the Ministry will provide co-financing for costs of seed, mineral fertilizer and plant protection products for all agricultural producers who have completed or plan the spring sowing.

“We have asked cantonal ministries to ensure that all interested agricultural producers use uncultivated agricultural land,” Dedić said.

He also noted that they recommended that all levels of government postpone the payment of rents and concession contracts for the use of state agricultural land for farmers, as well as delay the payment of concession fees for water use for a period of three months from the due date in 2020.

In addition, Dedić said, the ministry provided KM 10 million for the start of disbursement of funds next week. He stressed that many cantons had not yet submitted requests to farmers, so he urged them to do so as soon as possible.

He called on all levels of government to increase appropriations for agricultural production from their budgets.

Talking about the current state of the stock, Dedić said that sufficient quantities of seeds, planting material, mineral fertilizers and plant protection products for spring sowing were provided in the Federation and that sufficient quantities of veterinary medicines were secured for the next three months.
