SARAJEVO, March 31 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Šefik Džaferović welcomed the European Union's USD 80.5 million aid to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the health sector and economic support.
“In addition to this, it is particularly significant that the European Union will allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to accede the Joint Procurement Agreement of medical equipment needed to combat coronavirus. This will allow us to get respirators and other medical equipment together with the EU Member States faster and easier,” Džaferovic told FENA.
He especially thanked the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, with whom he spoke on this subject last week.
“One of the topics of my conversation with Commissioner Varhelyi last week was precisely to enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate, together with EU countries, in the procurement of respirators. I am really pleased with the information that the EU has decided to help BiH in this way as well,” Džaferović said.
The Chairman of the BiH Presidency emphasized that he expected the competent institutions of BiH to react promptly and follow the accelerated procedure for accession to this agreement with the EU.
