MOSTAR, April 2 (FENA) - The incubation period for the new coronavirus has usually between five and seven days but there are cases of longer incubation, so extending the self-isolation period should be considered, said Prof. Dr.Jurica Arapović, infectious diseases specialist at the University Clinical Hospital Mostar.
At a regular press conference, Dr. Arapović recalled that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a new strain of the coronavirus family, and we are discovering something new about it with every new day.
"Its incubation period is usually between five and seven days, sometimes even shorter. However, there are cases where the incubation period is longer than 14 days and our recommendation to the Crisis Staff will be to extend the self-isolation period to three weeks, and for persons who have been in direct contact with the infected to extend the isolation to 28 days," underlined Dr. Arapović.
