SARAJEVO, April 7 (FENA) - Four more new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton in the last 24 hours, and eight patients have been hospitalized at the Podhrastovi Clinic, one of whom is on a ventilator, head of the Sarajevo Canton Crisis Staff Aida Pilav said today at a press conference, adding that four people have died from the coronavirus in the Sarajevo Canton and 21 in the Federation of BiH.
Director of the Sarajevo Canton Health Center Mehmed Kulić said that all activities have been undertaken to ensure a successful fight against the pandemic and that they are taking great care of all patients.
Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection Chief of Staff Jasmin Terović said that they are continuing with the cleaning and disinfection activities and that there is good coordination of civil protection staffs at the municipal level, who regularly distribute medicines, food and hygiene packages to pensioners and others in need in cooperation with the Sarajevo Canton Red Cross volunteers.
The police of the Sarajevo Canton is taking preventive measures to protect police officers, and according to the police commissioner of the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry Nusret Selimović, they consider it a success that only six police officers are in self-isolation.
Selimović said that 20 misdemeanor warrants were issued in the last 24 hours for violating the curfew, and 20 misdemeanor warrants were issued for not wearing protective equipment (masks and gloves). Misdemeanor charges were also issued for three juveniles.
So far, 86 students have been housed in the premises of the Student Center in Bjelave, including two children, mostly BiH citizens who came from Italy, France and Sweden.
