SARAJEVO, April 7 (FENA) - The FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said today the burden of the crisis will not be placed on the pensioner population, disability beneficiaries and other most vulnerable categories and that no one should think of placing some other priorities over them.
"Since there are various ideas circulating, I want to be pretty clear about this. It is unacceptable for anyone to seek a reduction in pensions and disability benefits in order to save money and divert it elsewhere. The government will make radical cuts in the administration and the entire public sector, public spending, political party funding, we will borrow money - and we are channeling all this money towards the economy. Pensioners have already taken on enough of the burden of the crisis as we are not in a position to increase their pensions this year, because they deserve it and because we have done it in the past," Novalić said.
He added that the FBiH Government would pay money for the contributions to all vulnerable categories of workers in the real sector, and provide benefits through the unemployment bureaus for anyone who loses their job.
"It is a huge burden, but we take responsibility and all eyes are on us. The Sarajevo Canton government set an excellent example for lower levels of government when it has assumed the payment of minimum wages for all workers in companies that have ceased to operate due to restrictions. This is a problem for the whole society and everyone should get involved, but not at the expense of the most vulnerable categories," said Novalić.
