SARAJEVO, April 7 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović, and Federation of BiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić today held separate meetings at SDA Headquarters with representatives of cantonal authorities and SDA municipality mayors.
Measures taken so far and necessary to combat the coronavirus pandemic, as well as measures needed to mitigate the economic consequences, were discussed.
President Izetbegović stressed the need for coordinated and synchronized action by all levels of government in order for the measures taken to be as effective as possible. He said that due to the inevitable fall in revenue, all budgets would have to be radically cut.
He insisted that in all that was taken, the element of social justice was strictly taken into account.
Džaferović and Novalić briefed representatives of lower levels of government on activities undertaken so far at the level of the BiH Presidency and the FBiH Government.
The urgent support of the FBiH Government to the health sector was assessed as significant, for which almost 90 million KM has been allocated so far.
They also discussed a set of economic measures adopted by the FBiH Government, which received support from the cantonal and municipal levels, with the need to take into account the specificities of some areas in the FBiH, as well as the competencies of the cantons and municipalities.
Cantonal Prime Ministers and mayors who attended the meetings made a number of suggestions and objections that will contribute to improving the proposed measures.
Special emphasis was placed on the needs of smaller municipalities, whose budgets under normal conditions are not sufficient to address all citizens' needs, the SDA said.
