SARAJEVO, April 9 (FENA) - FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said economic measures by the FBiH Government will surely mitigate the economic downturn, but the crisis and major damage are impossible to avoid.
“No one more than me at this point would like to be able to say: there are measures by which we can completely pass by this crisis and bring things back. Unfortunately, this is not possible. I don't want to lie to citizens. False hopes and reckless comforts are very dangerous,” Novalić said.
Some suggest that we spend everything from the budget in the next three months, so that we cover net salaries and contributions for everyone.
“Federation of BiH does not have that much money at all, because we will not reduce pensions and disability benefits and redirect it to the economy. Besides, even if we have money to show off (and we don't), no one can say for sure that this will take three months. Even if the pandemic is over in three months, the economic crisis will certainly not. In the naive and rushed desire to save everything immediately, we could very quickly run out of anything. Everything is impossible to save, we cannot avoid great damage, but we will save a lot. There will be layoffs even after the law is passed, but we will reduce them; we will slow down and stop as much negative trends as we can,” Prime Minister Novalić concluded.
