SARAJEVO, April 9 (FENA) - Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Bosnia and Herzegovina Andrew Jewell said today that, following the Executive Board's decision to increase the amount of emergency assistance available to member countries, the IMF is now ready to provide EUR 330 million to Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Rapid Finance Instrument (RFI) to combat the Covid-19 crisis.
"However, before an RFI can be approved, authorities must first agree on how RFI funds would be distributed between the two entities. Failure to reach an agreement will result in delay in assistance," Jewell said.
He added that the Executive Board currently has more than 90 requests for emergency assistance and it may be difficult to find another date in the near future when the Board would be in a position to consider BiH's request.
"We encourage the authorities to work together to reach an agreement as soon as possible," said Jewell, announced the Office of the IMF Resident Representative in BiH.
