SARAJEVO, April 9 (FENA) - The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at today's session, adopted a decision to launch an initiative to pass a law on amendments to the BiH Election Law to be submitted to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
The proposed amendments to the BiH Election Law introduce the concept of extraordinary circumstances, including a state of emergency, and the state of a natural disaster and other disasters, and affirms that the CEC has the power to make a decision to postpone calling for and holding elections, which is a provision that does not exist at the moment.
"The CEC also proposes prescribing an obligation to this body to make a decision on calling and holding elections when it determines that the conditions for holding elections have been met in accordance with the BiH Election Law, not later than 90 days after the end of extraordinary circumstances," it is said in a statement from the CEC BiH.
