ZENICA, April 13 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Šefik Džaferović and Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić commended the measures, efforts and results in the fight against coronavirus during today's visit to the headquarters of the Government and Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC).

Džaferović said the Government, Crisis Staff and ZDC's medical experts responded well to the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Their action, together with the action of the entity and state authorities, of course, is functioning very well. We can say that the rapid growth of the pandemic was prevented, and we all aimed to achieve it first and foremost - to prevent sudden growth so that we could control it, because our health capacities are not such as to withstand the rapid growth pandemics,” said Džaferović, who urged citizens to strictly adhere to the measures, instructions and orders of competent institutions.

Together we will have to bear the burden of the crisis, and Džaferović believes those who have the most should bear the biggest burden and that it should be started from the highest salaries and by no means affect the rights of vulnerable categories - pensioners, disabled people and people who need help.

Prime Minister Novalić stressed that they heard some interesting ideas from their hosts today, which can be implemented in other cantons. He noted that the 200 million KM loans approved by the International Monetary Fund will be allocated to the cantons, in order to maintain "health, safety and civil protection" systems. ZDC will receive about 32 million KM and 16 respirators from this loan, which is divided according to the population, which will be the criterion for distribution.

Novalić said in particular that they had heard "an interesting proposal regarding quarantines, which, in this form cannot be organized, and in fact it would be very difficult to organize." And they cost a lot.

“In terms of the health system, we are more at risk with quarantines than self-isolation. So, of course, we will return the information to the FBiH Civil Protection Administration to consider the Zenica-Doboj Canton "way" of coronavirus treatment. Obviously, it is the most successful,” said Novalić, who believes that some solutions should be copied from the ZDC.

That is why, Novalić noted, the ZDC was chosen for the first visit to the cantons, because this canton was the first one to make a budget revision and focus its own efforts on solving problems.

Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mirza Ganić recalled that they were one of the first cantons to launch the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health Crisis and undertook a set of measures that ensured good cooperation between all levels of government, civil protection and the health system. A budget revision was adopted, and he announced that Spending program would be presented tomorrow at the session of the Government.

“We will co-finance 50 percent of the salary for the month of March, for April there will be a co-financing of the minimum wage in the amount of 407 KM,” said Ganić, who added that they relied on their own forces. It is encouraging that they will be able to count on money from IMF loan funds because of the possibility to plan further activities in the area of economy and health.
