SARAJEVO, April 22 (FENA) - FBiH Minister of Transport and Communication Denis Lasić said at the press conference today that the Ministry supports all public companies in its field so that it can carry out its activities smoothly.
He added that even before the order for suspension of public transport, the FBiH Railways reduced passenger traffic to make more capacity available for freight traffic.
“As road freight transport decreased and demand for food and energy increased, the railways proved to be an indispensable factor in this situation. All international border crossings are open to traffic with enhanced enforcement of all protection measures,” Lasić said.
He pointed out that BH Post and HP Mostar have organized delivery of shipments in such a way as to avoid contact with customers where possible and that all types of postal services were carried out undisturbed.
Lasić said that the telecom operator's systems are stable and BH Telecom has put additional resources at the disposal of educational institutions to provide online teaching.
Minister Lasić said the epidemic did not affect the dynamics of construction of motorways, expressways and highways and that there are currently eight active construction sites.
He specified that they carried out analysis of the plans for 2020 and proposed a reduction of the existing amount of appropriations by KM 19.6 million, which will be used to mitigate the effects of the crisis.
“That savings should not jeopardize all planned projects in 2020,” said Lasić.
