Italy organizes a videoconference with BiH medics

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 22 (FENA) - Italy, together with the United Nations and the World Health Organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized today the first videoconference with medics across the country and professionals directly facing the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic in Italy.

“Faced with COVID-19, we are all in the same situation. Gathering information and sharing experiences are essential,” said Italian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Nicola Minasi, commenting on the launch of a joint initiative today via videoconference, along with UN Resident Coordinator in BiH Ingrid Macdonald, attended by representatives of WHO in BiH and health authorities in BiH, with about 30 representatives from various hospitals across the country.

They discussed urgent procedures for the protection of healthcare staff in hospitals and for mid-term response systems, the Italian Embassy in BiH stated.

The videoconference was very substantive, interactive and laid the foundations for stronger cooperation between Italy, the United Nations, the World Health Organization and local hospitals. As the first victim of a pandemic in Europe, Italy wants to share all its experience to help friendly countries. Bosnia and Herzegovina is the first country with which Italy establishes this kind of cooperation at European and world level.
