BANJA LUKA, April 26 (FENA) - Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Johann Sattler, said in Banja Luka today that the EU will assist BiH in the fight against coronavirus, and that solidarity is the most important in this period.

“No one can fight this 'vile' virus alone and I am happy that the EU was able to help RS and BiH,” Sattler told reporters after delivering protective equipment, masks and gloves and reagents (tests at the RS Institute of Public Health), worth about 150.000 KM.

He reminded that the EU has allocated more than EUR 300 million to BiH, of which EUR 250 million is macro-financial assistance and EUR 80 million is emergency assistance for the medical sector and small businesses.

“But it is not all about money. Solidarity is the most important. BiH is a member of the European family and will be an EU member. The EU will stand alongside the RS and BiH,” Sattler said.

BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik said on this occasion that this is the beginning of the expected assistance, including ventilators and other health-care equipment.

He emphasized that solidarity is needed in this time.

Dodik said that the EU has not forgotten RS.

"It will certainly strengthen our belief in the need for European integration," Dodik said.

BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik thinks it is not a good decision that the authorities of the Federation of BiH abolished local quarantines and that it was done a bit too early and, as he said, without coordination with RS representatives.

“We have a session of the BiH Presidency on Tuesday, we will analyze the measures that have been adopted, the manner of implementation and we will give an assessment,” he said replying on questions of journalists.

He thinks it would be logical for the quarantine system to remain until May 1, due to the possible greater arrival of persons from abroad to BiH.
