MOSTAR, April 29 (FENA) - Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, handed over medical equipment to combat coronavirus to Prime Minister of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) Nevenko Herceg and the Chief of the HNC Civil Protection Crisis Staff Eugen Ćubela today.
On this occasion, Herceg thanked Ambassador Sattler for today's donation from the European Union, but also for all the assistance so far received from EU Member States and their willingness to help in the spread of coronavirus pandemic and economic repair in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Protective gloves, caps and equipment we received today through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will be donated to all hospitals and health centers in the HNC and will certainly be of great use in everyday work, and I would like to express my appreciation on this occasion," Herceg said.
He added that, on Wednesday, the Cantonal Government also decided to allocate 300,000 KM from the budget current reserve to health facilities in municipalities that are facing serious difficulties in combating coronavirus.
According to him, HNC is by far the most affected canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the greatest number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.
The European Union's assistance to the HNC has so far been worth 100,000 KM, and a donation of ventilators and protective equipment worth 550,000 KM is planned soon, the Government of the HNC announced.
