Dodik: Milanović's leaving the ceremony is sign of normalization of relations

FENA Press release

BOSANSKA GRADIŠKA, May 3 (FENA) - BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik believes it is right that President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović left the ceremony on the occasion of marking the anniversary of the military action "Flash" in Okućani due to the Ustasha salute.

“This is good path and an indicator that relations are beginning to normalize to a considerable extent,” Dodik said, adding that he believed that Croatia, like the Serbs as a whole, would make some peaceful concept of coexistence where there would be no conflict.

Croatian media reported that Milanović had left the event in Okućani in protest against the salute “For the Homeland, ready” that were on T-shirts of some war veterans who arrived to participate in the commemoration.

Dodik told reporters in Bosanska Gradiška that Serbs must have a culture of remembering their victims.

"We do not come here to take our vows of vengeance, but to express our memory of the victims and to devote ourselves to peace," Dodik said in Bosanska Gradiška at the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the exodus of 15,000 Serbs from western Slavonia in the Croatian military-police action "Flash".

He stated that RS will respect everyone who respects RS and that it will defend its interests.

“Serb-Croatian relations are very difficult and complicated throughout history. This is shown by the fact that about ten kilometers from here the Croatian side is celebrating the victory, and here we are commemorating. And if you add Bosniaks, then all of our history has to do with one marking victories and the other commemorating,” Dodik said.

He criticized the OHR for being "hostile to Serbs and RS," he said.

Entity President Željka Cvijanović said 15,000 Serbs were expelled from their homes in the Croatian military-police action "Flash".
