SDA: Zagreb is imposing something on Sarajevo that even its president condemns

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 13 (FENA) - The caucus of the MPs of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly considers hypocritical the assessment of the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, Dragan Čović on the occasion of the announced 'mass for Bleiburg victims'.

"We hear statements about an attack on the Croat people, but we have to remind that even the President of Croatia Zoran Milanović said that the commemorations in Bleiburg, organized by the so-called Honorary Bleiburg Platoon, have nothing to do with honor, and represent a misuse of Christian faith and a wrong stance towards historical events," said the SDA MPs' caucus.

They add that it is also a fact that a mass in Sarajevo is to be a part of the same program, under the auspices of the Croatian Parliament and the 'Honorary Bleiburg Platoon', in which even the President of Croatia refuses to participate and condemns it as "inappropriate use of religion."

"Is the President of Croatia also attacking the Croat people, the Catholic Church and religious freedoms, or are in fact the HDZ BiH and the HDZ of Croatia only hiding behind the people and the church which they are politically misusing?!, asked the SDA.

They remind that the election campaign has begun in Croatia and that the issue of a position towards the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) is one of the main topics, and the placement of this event in Sarajevo "is not only an election campaign topic but also a part of a much wider context".

"Nobody here is attacking the Church or the Croats. The only fact is that in the context of this mass, the HDZ has begun spreading hatred towards Bosniaks. It is also a fact that the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Jewish Community, the Embassy of Israel, and the member of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik have all condemned this mass, but the HDZ still pretends that only Bosniaks are against it, because their exclusive aim is to convince Croats that Bosniaks, "for no apparent reason, have something against them," it is said in the statement.

The SDA MPs' Caucus underlines that this is an example of a politics that tries to defend its wrong policies by putting forward a thesis that Croats are endangered in BiH.

"We have come to a position where everything is interpreted as an attack on Croats, which then takes any kind of debate beyond the boundaries of common sense. Even in a situation when we have to impose taxes on betting business and bookmakers, this is seen as an "attack on Croats".

In the end, we come to the conclusion that Mr. Čović and the HDZ are trying to convince us that by condemning fascism we are attacking Croats, but that celebrating Maks Luburić is an act in the spirit of European values. This is not normal and it is not civilizational. This is not the right path for anyone in BiH," the statement concluded.
