Dodik: We are against prolonging the elections, but also against illegal CEC

BANJA LUKA, May 22 (FENA) - President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik said today that there is no stable parliamentary majority at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is against prolonging the elections, although he believes the Central Election Commission is illegitimate.

He claims that entering the elections with, as he calls it, the illegal Central Election Commission (CEC), automatically means an illegal election process, which is why it is necessary to ensure the "legitimacy" of the CEC.

He reiterated that the SNSD will always vote for the decision on financing the local elections, without, unlike some parties, advocating the postponement of the elections.

“We are against prolonging the elections and we appeal to those who should decide to leave another week to see how to solve this issue,” he added.

He says that if an illegitimate election commission is elected at the BiH level, why would it be disputable to form that commission in that BiH entity.

In response to the statements of the HDZ President that the HDZ-SDA coalition no longer exists, Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka that he did not want to comment on relations in the Federation of BiH, but that it was evident that this was the case.

“SDA shows a tendency to form some other majorities with other political parties, outside the partnership relations with HDZ and SNSD, and resolve some issues,” he stated.

Dodik said that SNSD is committed to cooperating with the parties with which it is in a coalition at the RS level, and that it will withdraw its consent for the appointment of their people at all levels of government in case any of those parties form a coalition outside that bloc, especially with the opposition.
