President of Federation of BiH sends an open letter to EU officials

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, May 24 (FENA) - President of the Federation of BiH, Marinko Čavara, sent an open letter to EU officials asking for their support to ensure the constitutional equality of all three constituent peoples in BiH.

Twenty-five years after signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, the Dayton Agreement, we are witnessing frequent violations of the Agreement as well as cases of discrimination, humiliation and even attempts to deny basic human rights to the smallest constituent people in BiH - the Croat people,” wrote Čavara.

Unfortunately, day by day, the intention of politicians of the so-called pro-Bosniak parties is clearer and stronger, and that is to overthrow the existing constitutional order and desire to organize the state according to the will of the most numerous people in BiH - Bosniaks, which is contrary to the Washington and Dayton Peace Accords and the constitutional order of the Federation of BiH and BiH, it is stated in the letter of the President of the Federation of BiH.

"Open threats and attacks on Croats and Catholics in Bosnia and Herzegovina have become commonplace, day by day this intolerance and, I can freely say, hate speech towards the Croat people, towards Catholics is growing stronger and without any sanctions,” wrote FBiH President Marinko Čavara.

He recalls that the European Union is founded on the protection and promotion of fundamental human rights and respect for different identities and cultures in Europe.

Therefore, it is clear, the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina said in the letter, that Bosnia and Herzegovina, which constantly belittles and violates the rights of the smallest constituent people, does not fulfill the fundamental task on its path to EU membership.

"We expect from you not to remain silent about all of the above, as well as scandals that are trying to cover up through pressure on prosecutors and judges, the media and anyone who mentions the illegal appointment of members of the Central Election Commission, procurement of ventilators, corruption in the Sarajevo SDA Cantonal Board, forged diplomas of the director of the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the way of managing and working of military industry, and many other similar situations as well as the illegal management of the FBiH Television that lasts for years,” stated the President of the FBiH in a letter to EU officials.
