SARAJEVO, May 26 (FENA) - Representatives of the United States Army and NATO Headquarters Sarajevo today donated important supplies and medical equipment to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the Allies' extensive efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation was handed over to the Ministry of Health of the Federation of BiH, and it consists of thermometers, hundreds of protective visors, five thousand masks, hundreds of protective glasses and suits, hundreds of quilts, pillows, bedding and hundreds of liters of disinfectants. A similar donation was handed over last Friday, May 22, to the Ministry of Health and Social Care of the Republika Srpska.
At the handover ceremony, Deputy Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier Morten Henriksen, said that after Bosnia and Herzegovina made a formal request for assistance to the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (NATO), a number of allies responded with significant support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a true proof of solidarity within the Alliance acting in situations like COVID-19.
Assistant Minister of Public Health Goran Čerkez thanked to the NATO Headquarters for the donation and pointed out that "as much as this donation is important itself, the cooperation between NATO and the FBiH Ministry of Health is also very important. I am sure that this is a small step in our great cooperation”.
These supplies will benefit workers who are on the front lines of the fight against pandemic as they continue their important work to limit the spread of coronavirus, and further facilitate the treatment of patients infected with the COVID-19 virus, NATO Headquarters stated.
