Gudeljević speaks with UNICEF and UNESCO representatives in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 4 (FENA) - Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ankica Gudeljević talked in Sarajevo with UNICEF Representative in BiH Rownak Khan and Head of the UNESCO Office in Sarajevo Siniša Šešum on numerous issues related to education, child protection, guidelines for reopening schools after pandemic, labor market and education disagreements and IPA projects published by the EU for the whole region.

Khan stressed that today it is very important to dedicate ourselves to the "school response" to the new working conditions after the pandemic, as well as to strengthen school management to ensure the best conditions for quality return to school.

At the same time, she congratulated Gudeljević on coordinating role and patience in collecting data on the needs of schools for the new working conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

She also pointed out that all UNICEF's efforts, in cooperation with the Ministry, will help bring BiH closer to the European Union, because education is an extremely important factor on that path.

Šešum pointed out that it is very important that the teaching process was not interrupted at any point in the pandemic, and added that UNESCO is leading a global coalition for education which seeks to help revive the BiH education system after the pandemic.

Various forms of assistance from education, webinars and any other strengthening of teachers for new educational challenges were also offered.

All interlocutors were of a single opinion - all children must have equal opportunities and that all children must be provided with an environment in which they will attend classes equally, especially when it comes to online classes.

It is important to strengthen secondary vocational education to prepare them for the new labor market, said the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Gudeljević thanked for the support provided so far by UNICEF and UNESCO to BiH and assessed that good communication is the only way to solve all problems in this country, including in the field of education.
