Turković meets with Dačić in Belgrade

SARAJEVO, June 9 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković met today in Belgrade with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić. ,

Turković pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina's relations with the Republic of Serbia, in addition to the existing open bilateral issues, are good, neighborly and stable.

She stated that in the past period, a political dialogue has been achieved on a bilateral and multilateral basis.

Officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia have been holding talks in all areas of common interest, especially in the field of economy and infrastructural connecting.

Minister Turković expressed Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to improving relations with Serbia, emphasizing that cooperation with neighboring countries is a priority of BiH's foreign policy, stated the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She pointed out that in the future, BiH wants to have good cooperation with the Republic of Serbia, overcoming all barriers that stand in the way of good cooperation between the two countries.

In that regard, she expressed special interest in resolving open bilateral issues with Serbia, of which the priority is resolving the issue of the interstate border.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, proposed reactivating the practice of intensive cooperation at the bilateral level through joint sessions of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Council of Ministers of BiH.

Dačić confirmed that the Government of Serbia has agreed to the opening of a consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Novi Pazar, and that it is now in the phase of implementation and obtaining the necessary documentation.

The Ambassador of BiH to the Republic of Serbia, Aida Smajić, will continue the conversation with her colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia to finalize the process.

At the meeting, the two officials expressed the need to intensify relations between the two countries, especially in the context of the development of regional relations in the post period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Serbia has opened its borders and the easing of relations in the neighborhood, but also in the entire EU, is also expected.

The ministers also discussed the current situation regarding the migrant crisis in countries, as well as the analysis and planning of joint activities on this issue towards the EU integration.

Minister Turković presented Minister Dačić with an aide-mémoire related to the implementation of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the Ališić case and informed her colleague about BiH's candidacy for the Steering Board of the International Postal Union.
