Minister Lučić meets with Ambassadors of Germany and France

SARAJEVO, June 11 (FENA) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Miloš Lučić met with German and French Ambassadors to BIH Margret Uebber and Guillaume Rousson and discussed the issues of refugees and displaced persons in BiH, as well as human rights of the most vulnerable categories.

Housing for refugees and displaced persons, as well as closure of collective centers in BiH, are the main priorities of Minister Lučić, who reminded his interlocutors that the implementation of the Regional Housing Program is underway, within which 1.600 housing units have been built and by the end of 2022, and additional 1,600 housing units are expected to be built, the Ministry announced. 

All housing units under this program remain the property of local communities.

Regarding the human rights situation in BiH, the interlocutors emphasized the need to strengthen the fight against discrimination, especially when it comes to the most vulnerable categories such as persons with disabilities, national minorities, LGBT population and others, in order to improve their economic and social status.

The Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees will continue to work on fulfilling BiH's international obligations in the field of international conventions.

The Ministry will also work intensively with religious communities, especially in the context of the importance of the BiH Interreligious Council.

Minister Lučić informed the Ambassadors that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry, through cooperation with the BiH Red Cross and entity institutions, supported minorities and other vulnerable categories.

When it comes to the humanitarian aspect of migrants in BiH, the need to provide them with humane living conditions and all necessary assistance was emphasized. Minister Lučić and the Ambassadors agreed that it is necessary to provide additional assistance for safe houses in BiH.
