SARAJEVO, June 21 (FENA) - The Cantonal Court in Bihać today ordered one-month custody for the Mayor of Velika Kladuša, Fikret Abdić, and Sulejman Silić, who were arrested on June 18 within the "Network" operation, Spokeswoman of the Una-Sana Canton Prosecutor's Office, Irena Marjanović Čavkić, confirmed for FENA.
The USC Prosecutor's Office is investigating criminal offenses committed from 2016 until today, which relate to the actions of the mayor, civil servants employed in the Municipality of Velika Kladuša and the responsible person in the suspected legal entity in public procurement procedures in which the Municipality of Velika Kladuša is the contracting authority.
In these proceedings, the suspect legal entity was continuously placed in a more favorable position compared to other legal entities, and the suspects avoided conducting an open public procurement procedure and, contrary to the BiH Public Procurement Law, applied only a suspected legal entity as a service provider.
The Prosecutor's Office states that the public procurements conducted in this way were then paid from the budget of the Municipality of Velika Kladuša.
