FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 1 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on the regular functioning and maintenance of the system for forecasting and warning of floods in the Sava River Basin.

Apart from BiH, the signatories of the Memorandum are Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the International Sava River Basin Commission.

Joint activities within the International Sava River Basin Commission and in accordance with the provisions of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin and the Protocol on Flood Protection helped to develop a joint system for flood forecasting in the Sava River Basin.

The system has been in operational use since October 2018, and its development has been financed by the funds of the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans and with the support of the World Bank.

The joint flood forecasting system in the Sava River Basin is a unique solution at the international level and provides added value to the institutions of all five countries as an upgrade to the activities carried out by each country, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations stated.
