SARAJEVO, July 2 (FENA) - Head of the Bosniak caucus in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a member of the BiH delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Asim Sarajlić welcomed the adoption of report of the US Senate Armed Services Committee and the announcement of new Pentagon activities with the aim of strengthening US security and military cooperation with BiH.
“It is extremely important that the highest legislative body of the United States has a report that accurately indicates the danger of Russian influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The political support of the Russian Federation to undermine the NATO and EU integration processes of our country, both through the PIC and through other mechanisms, is one of the key causes of political destabilization in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Sarajlić points out.
When it comes to reasons for the blockades and insufficiently fast integration progress in BiH, our partners in Washington, but also in Brussels, Sarajlić adds, must put this factor in special focus, and help BiH institutions to properly face this challenge.
“That is why the findings of the US Senate Armed Services Committee are encouraging, and it is extremely important for the BiH public to emphasize the full importance of the difference between the forces that are for NATO's path of our country and those that slow down that path in cooperation with foreign factors. It is known who is for the NATO path, and who is blocking that path, and colorless and neutral opposition parties on this issue are clearly visible. Clarifying this difference is a key precondition for accelerating positive processes on a wider scale in BiH, and denying this difference and equalizing all parties is actually a key mechanism in maintaining the status quo,” said Sarajlić.
