SARAJEVO, July 2 (FENA) - President of the FBiH Employers Association Adnan Smailbegović said today in Sarajevo after a session of the Economic and Social Council for the territory of the Federation of BiH that a consensus has been reached on increasing the minimum wage.

“Most of the discussions at the session were about the methodology for calculating the minimum wage. I think we have reached a consensus that the minimum wage must be increased, it should go up and it is high time for that, because this minimum wage has been in force for five years,” said Smailbegović.

Smailbegović added that another consensus has been reached and that it would be ideal to change the laws on contributions and income tax. Thus, according to him, the minimum wage could go up without burdens, contributions and the rest not growing or growing significantly. In principle, an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Economic-Social Council at the end of the month, at which, as Smailbegović said, they expect that the FBiH Ministry of Finance will prepare a regulation on the minimum wage, which they would discuss.
