SARAJEVO, July 3 (FENA) - Smart bins have been placed in the Municipality of Stari Grad for better waste management and a cleaner appearance of tourist locations.
On that occasion, on the square in front of the City Hall, the spokesperson of the public utility company "Rad" Mirza Ramić stated that company "Services and Solutions" received financial resources from UNDP for implementation of the project "Energy against waste" within which bins have been placed.
“Their characteristic is that they use all types of solar energy and can collect data via sensors and send information to a data platform. In addition to its basic use for disposing of smaller amounts of waste, such as packaging waste, there is one part for disposing of cigarette butts so that they do not end up in public areas,” said Ramić.
Unlike the usual bins, these "smart" ones also have an indicator for monitoring the occupancy of 30 to 90 percent, and the workers of the company "Rad" are not obliged to visit the places where the bins are located that often.
