MOSTAR, July 5 (FENA) - Mostar's Old Bridge on satruday evening was illuminated with the colors of the United States flag on the occasion of US Independence Day celebrated on July 4, but also on the occasion of two and a half decades of peace and partnership between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From the Old Bridge as a global monument of peace, organized by the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation, a unified message of congratulations was sent to the citizens of the friendly United States of America.
“Today, when we are united in the difficult fight against coronavirus pandemic, it is important to remind that the United States has stood with the citizens of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the most difficult moments, and played a key role in stopping the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then establishing lasting peace.
In these efforts, Mostar had a special place, as a city that was an integral part of all peace agreements from Washington to Dayton,” said the Director of the Mostar Peace Center Safet Oručević.
He underlined that the United States has always advocated for Mostar as a unified city and a city of all its citizens.
“Together with the people of Mostar, the ties broken by the war were built by giving a huge contribution to the global partnership for the construction of the Old Bridge as a world monument of peace. This city will never forget that,” Oručević emphasized.
