Jajce is a city that offers abundance of natural beauties and historical sites

SARAJEVO, July 5 (FENA) - The city of Jajce certainly is among the brightest pearls in terms of natural beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a town which is abundant in natural splendor and cultural and historical sights.

Thus, Jajce is the only city in the world that has a waterfall in the town center. And it is a waterfall that is one of the 12 most beautiful in the world. Also, there are Pliva lakes with mills that are about 400 years old.

A casual or intentional visitor to Jajce has the opportunity to visit other sights, such as the Temple of the God Mithras, the catacombs of Jajce, the Old Town of Jajce, the necropolis of stećak tombstones in Vinac, the AVNOJ Center, the Old Town of Vinac and many others.

The Franciscan Museum of the Monastery of St. Luke holds the sarcophagus with the skeleton of the last Bosnian king Stjepan Tomašević (ruled from 1461 to 1463) in its port.

Ivana Papić, an expert associate for tourism in the Agency for Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage and Development of Tourism Potentials of the City of Jajce, points out in a conversation with FENA that despite the pandemic, Jajce is intensively preparing for the tourism season. Thus, decorating the main street in the old part of the city is underway, which will be completely paved and beautified with a large fountain.

"On the Pliva Lakes, we are conducting works on the pedestrian pathways. The Public Institution Agency for Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage and Development of Tourism Potentials of the City of Jajce, in cooperation with the Municipality of Jajce, is working intensively on cleaning the Pliva and Vrbas riverbeds to provide local residents and domestic tourists with wonderful sites for cooling down and resting during hot summer days.

Papić points out that tourist attractions in Jajce are open to all visitors, and that as of this year, two novelties are available.

"One of them is a zip-line that stretches above the magnificent waterfall connecting the banks of the Vrbas and ending in the city park and the VR experience where tourists will have the opportunity to experience Jajce from a completely different perspective. VR experience is a new tourist attraction that gives our visitors the opportunity to experience Jajce live from the air, sightseeing with VR glasses and drones," explains Papić.

She also points out that Jajce optimistically hopes that it will be able to hold the International Waterfall Jumps this year as well, which are planned for August 8, and that they will attract numerous competitors and tourists as in previous years.

"The pandemic did not discourage many private entrepreneurs, who also used this time to increase their accommodation capacities or renovate the existing ones. The rules of conduct relating to protection measures and distances are clearly displayed on all historical sites and monuments," Papić concluded in an interview with FENA.
