Queen Noor, ICMP and Memorial Center call for support in search for missing

FENA Press release

SREBRENICA, July 12 (FENA) - Queen Noor of Jordan, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and Srebrenica Memorial Center have called for support in the search for missing persons.

“Over the past twenty years, working with the International Commission on Missing Persons, I have had the privilege to witness, love and admire my sisters from Srebrenica. For your courage, dedication, compassion and steadfastness in the face of immense pressures. In our work with you and others to ensure that the victims of Srebrenica are found and identified, together we have opened the way for perpetrators to face justice. The work of our commission has contributed to a long and thorough investigation, which made it possible to establish beyond any shadow of a doubt the facts about the genocide,” Jordan's Queen Noor pointed out in her message.

ICMP has so far helped Bosnia and Herzegovina find 75 percent of the estimated 30,000 missing, including nearly 7,000 of 8,000 victims of the Srebrenica genocide.

Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center pointed out the importance of ICMP's work.

“There is a clear connection between what ICMP is doing and what was decided in The Hague, and finally our possibilities and privileges to bury our loved ones. Therefore, we must raise awareness together about the importance of searching for the missing, not only here in our country but also in other places where war crimes and mass killings have taken place. We must use our lessons learned to help others, this is an important message that the Memorial Center wants to send on this occasion,” said Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center Emir Suljagić, press service of the Srebrenica Memorial Center announced.

The Srebrenica Memorial Center dedicated this day to raising awareness of the importance of searching for missing persons in the Srebrenica genocide, but also the importance of the support of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) and the development of science in identifying and finding missing persons.
