SARAJEVO, July 16 (FENA) - Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, today in Sarajevo handed over medical equipment donated by the European Union for medical needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The value of the donation is about 1.3 million euros and includes 28 ventilators, 20 ultrasound machines and 2,000 pulse oximeters, which will be distributed to medical institutions across BiH.
Sattler said that we are still far from victory over the coronavirus pandemic, which is increasingly affecting young people, which is why special caution and respect for the recommendations of the competent institutions are needed.
“That is why we are here today to deliver a large shipment of medical equipment to BiH, and the European Union remains the most loyal partner to BiH citizens,” Sattler added.
The handover was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković, who thanked the European Union for the donation and continued support provided to BiH.
She pointed out that this is a true sign that BiH is a serious candidate for full membership in the EU in the not so distant future.
The equipment was procured as part of a project implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Steliana Nedera said they were proud to be partners of the European Union in providing strategic support to BiH during the pandemic.
The equipment delivered today is part of the European Union's assistance to BiH in the fight against coronavirus, worth a total of seven million euros.
