SARAJEVO, July 20 (FENA) - Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija talked today via video link with the EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi about the current situation in BiH caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and about economic and political issues in the country and the region, in light of European integration process.
Tegeltija expressed gratitude for the support provided by the European Union to BiH in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and stressed the importance of the EU's continued engagement in strengthening political and economic ties in the Western Balkans region.
On this occasion, the European Commissioner for Enlargement expressed the EU's readiness for additional support to the health sector in BiH, in accordance with the expressed needs, and informed the Chairman of the Council of Ministers about the economic and investment plan for the Western Balkans to be presented by the European Commission in the autumn with a purpose of long-term support for the economic recovery and bringing the region closer to the European Union.
This plan should accelerate growth and create new jobs in the region, which is part of the pandemic recovery effort, and will focus on infrastructure projects in various areas of importance to citizens, such as energy, transport, environmental protection, etc., stated the Council of Ministers of BiH.
