SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - We say goodbye to a man who will be remembered, by everyone who worked with him, cooperated or at least once met and talked to him, as a cheerful, gentle, calm person, fully committed to his duties, said Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović, at the commemoration on the occasion of the death of the FBiH Minister for Veteran Affairs and Disabled Veterans of the Liberation War Salko Bukvarević.

Džaferović pointed out that Bukvarević was a true BiH patriot in war and in peace.

“We will remember him as a young man who, realizing the evil was threatening the Bosniak people and Bosnia and Herzegovina, immediately joined other patriots in organizing the Patriotic League in Tuzla, and later during the aggression together with his Black Swans bravely fought for the freedom of his people and homeland. He will be remembered by his colleagues from the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering in Tuzla as a hard-working student and then a doctor of science, and professor at this faculty,’ the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH reminded.

He stated that he will be remembered by members and activists of the Party of Democratic Action, especially in Tuzla and Tuzla Canton, as a hardworking and dedicated man who continued to fight for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all its people through politics, as well as employees of the Bosnian Cultural Center in Tuzla, which he gave his contributions during his term as director. He will be remembered for his exceptional cooperation and kindness by artists and cultural workers from all parts of BiH.

“Minister Bukvarević will be remembered by his colleagues from the Government of the Federation of BiH, but also by his comrades-in-arms, with whom he has been in daily contact in the last five years as the Minister for Veteran Affairs and Disabled Veterans of the Liberation War. In the gap between desires and possibilities, he managed to fight for laws that will provide a more dignified life for the veteran population. He will be remembered as a good son, father, husband, brother and neighbor. But, all of us together, we will remember him the most as a good man,” said Džaferović.

He stressed that "with all the qualities that can adorn a person, the most important one is to be a good man. But, believe me, there is no simpler or more comprehensive definition than these two words. Nor is there a greater title than - a good man."

He recalled the words of Nelson Mandela, who once said "Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace" and added that Salko Bukvarević, at the age of 53, had done his duty to his people and country honorably.
