FOČA, August 2 (FENA) - The anniversary of the crimes against 3,000 Bosniak civilians from this town was marked today by symbolic throwing of roses into the Drina River from the bridge of suffering near the infamous prison in Foča.

Members of the Association of War Victims "Foča 1992 - 1995" mark the first Sunday in August in memory of all the martyrs of Foča and the horrific crimes in which they were killed, captured, raped and tortured in this city so that the victims and crimes would not be forgotten.

“Today we mark the day of remembrance of all the martyrs of Foča and innocent victims of the war in the municipality of Foča. During the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3,000 Bosniaks were killed in Foča, of which 586 were women, which in itself speaks of the nature of the war. Unfortunately, 28 years have passed and we still haven't found our loved ones and we are still looking for 627 members of our families who are listed as 'missing',” said Secretary-General of the Association of War Victims "Foča 1992-1995" Midheta Kaloper Oruli in a statement for FENA.

She added that unfortunately due to the situation with coronavirus, many officials canceled their arrival at this event. RS Vice President Ramiz Salkić attended the anniversary.

“The Vice President of FBiH Melika Mahmutbegović sent a letter of support with prayers to our martyrs,” said Kaloper Oruli.
