In the last 24 hours, 282 newly infected and nine deaths registered in BiH

SARAJEVO, August 7 (FENA) - In the past 24 hours in the Federation of BiH, 759 samples were tested, of which 198 were positive for SARS-CoV-2.

In the Federation of BiH, 92,390 samples have been tested so far, and SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed in 8,026 people.

As of today, 4,305 patients have recovered in the Federation of BiH, while there are currently 3,531 active cases of SARS-CoV-2.

In the past 24 hours, five deaths were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH.

As of today, the total number of deaths in the Federation of BiH is 190, of which 121 are male and 69 are female, stated the Institute of Public Health of the Federation of BiH.

The coronavirus was confirmed in another 84 people in the entity of Republika Srpska after testing 292 samples in the past 24 hours, while four deaths have been reported, stated the entity's Institute of Public Health.

Among the dead is a 35-year-old man who did not have chronic diseases, while 17 persons are on ventilators.

The entity Minister of Health and Social Care Alen Šeranić said at a press conference that the current epidemiological situation is unfavorable and that he was concerned about the number of patients receiving hospital treatment.

“The current epidemiological situation is highly challenging, especially from the aspect of the number of patients in hospitals. We are working intensively on strengthening the capacities of the COVID department, we are procuring new tests for fast testing of patients who are hospitalized due to other health conditions, and we are working on the most efficient ways of organization,” Minister Šeranić emphasized.

Epidemiologist Jela Aćimović said that 257 patients are currently hospitalized, of whom 69 at the University Clinical Center in Banja Luka, and 188 in other hospitals.
