SARAJEVO, August 13 (FENA) - President of the Central Election Commission of BiH Željko Bakalar today held an online meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom to BiH Matthew Field and discussed the organization and implementation of the 2020 Local Elections in BiH.
Both officials expressed satisfaction with the fact that local elections will be held in the City of Mostar, for the first time since 2008, which will meet one of the conditions of 14 key priorities from the European Commission Opinion on Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for EU membership.
During the meeting, they emphasized challenges related to the implementation of the remaining election activities, as well as implementation of the elections in circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic.
The interlocutors concluded that the upcoming elections in BiH, and especially holding of local elections in the City of Mostar, are an important moment for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH CEC stated.
